Therapy for Moms
Supporting You on Your Journey from Pre-Conception and Beyond
Motherhood brings profound transformation—physically, emotionally, and relationally. Whether you’re preparing to conceive, adjusting to life with a newborn, or navigating the ups and downs of parenting, it’s normal to feel overwhelmed by the demands of motherhood. I’m here to support you in finding balance, confidence, and fulfillment on this journey.
How I Help Moms
Motherhood can be both deeply rewarding and uniquely challenging. Many mothers struggle with mom rage, anxiety, resentment, relationship strains, parenting frustrations, or even unresolved family-of-origin issues. You may find yourself navigating low self-confidence, self-doubt, or body image concerns that feel amplified during this time. Therapy can help you unpack these complex experiences, providing tools to help you move forward with compassion and clarity.
Using a blend of attachment theory, insight-oriented therapy, and parts work (also known as Internal Family Systems), I help you address the root causes of your struggles. Together, we’ll work to strengthen your self-compassion, heal from past wounds, and empower you to step into a more confident, fulfilling version of motherhood.
Understanding Patriarchal Motherhood
Patriarchal motherhood is the belief that mothers are the primary or sole bearers of emotional labor, childcare, and domestic responsibilities—often at the expense of their own well-being and fulfillment. These expectations can lead to feelings of resentment, isolation, and guilt, especially as mothers try to meet unrealistic societal standards.
Why My Feminist Approach Matters
I bring a feminist, anti-patriarchal lens into therapy with moms, helping you recognize and deconstruct internalized beliefs about motherhood that may limit your sense of agency and joy. Together, we’ll examine these norms and explore more empowering alternatives. This approach aims to help you reclaim your sense of self, set healthy boundaries, and build an identity that respects your needs as a person and as a mother.
What You Can Expect in Therapy for Moms
In our sessions, I create a compassionate space where you can safely explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. We’ll work on:
Healing Attachment Wounds: Through attachment-based therapy, we’ll explore your early life experiences and how they impact your relationships today. This helps you form secure, healthy attachments with your child and enhances self-trust.
Insight-Oriented Exploration: By exploring your underlying beliefs, patterns, and family dynamics, I help you better understand yourself, your reactions, and your needs.
Parts Work (Internal Family Systems): This approach allows us to identify and work with different “parts” of yourself, like the inner critic, the nurturer, and the protector. Parts work fosters self-compassion and helps you manage the different emotions that surface in motherhood.
Empowerment through Self-Compassion and Confidence: We focus on building self-compassion, reducing self-criticism, and reclaiming confidence. This process supports you in embracing a more balanced, fulfilling vision of motherhood that respects your individuality.
